Abstract
Abstract: The use of movement therapy is described in the treatment of a patient with combined physical and psychiatric problems. The patient was blind because of self-mutilation and had acute psychiatric symptomatology, including auditory hallucinations. Movement therapy in individual sessions was a critical intervention for this patient. It helped him deal rapidly with the multiple boundary problems of inside versus outside stimuli. In this case, movement therapy was a pivotal tool which facilitated growth and development. Movement therapy is, therefore, recommended to be used from the beginning of treatment for patients presenting physical and psychiatric problems.
